I have been in so many situations where I can remember trying to fit into a certain mold that others have created for me, or even worse ones that I have created for myself.
I know as a teenager we all seem to fall into that trap, but as we grow older, it's hard to remember who we really are after trying to suppress the not-so-impressive things about ourselves for so long. Sometimes, as a mom, I find myself slipping back into that trap, caring what other people think and not caring what I think. Sometimes I get so stuck in it that don't even realize it...I don't even remember what I like, who I am and how I think without the influence of others.
Can you relate?
Motherhood, life, relationships, everything is hard! It's hard enough with out the judging eyes of others. There are days I have found myself wondering if I am doing the right things...or crying my eyes out KNOWING I am doing ALL the wrong things.
The ONE and ONLY thing that I have found to give me strength to overcome all the negativity and self doubt?? I work on me. Every-single-day!!
I resiste the urge to sleep in(and I LOVE me some sleep)! I get up and work on myself. Somedays look different than others, but usually here is my morning routine:
Starting at 5:30(sometimes earlier if I can handle it)
wake up
make lemon water
study scriptures & pray
meditate
journal
recite affirmations
stretch
workout
shower
It doesn't always happen perfectly. Little babes wake up and throw a kink in my groove, but for the most part it has become routine and they know(at least Boston knows) that if they are up early, it's "mommy time".
All my favotire workouts are of course Beachbody--my fovorite right now? Piyo!! I sooooo wish I had started this one sooner. I am excited to workout each morning again!!
Having that foundation to build my day on makes the hectic everyday life go just a little smoother. I also squeeze in some cheesy sounding personal development books. Don't knock them until you have given them a chance...
Some of my favorite as of yet are:
I AM THAT GIRL
The Compound Effect
You Are a Bad Ass(audio)
The Energy Bus(audio)
All of these things alone are great, but I have found that the combination is what makes the biggest effect in my attitude as a mom, wife and person. In short, do at leats ONE thing each day that makes you smile. REALLY smile!! Do it for you! Do it for your sanity. Do it to be HAPPY!
